Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct ensures that every participant, mentor, sponsor, and organizer can thrive in an environment of respect, creativity, and collaboration.

Applicability

This policy applies to all HackCulture spaces and activities, including but not limited to:

  • Hackathons
  • Talks, presentations, and demos
  • Workshops and mentoring sessions
  • Social gatherings and networking events
  • Online platforms and communication channels
  • All sponsors, partners, and projects submitted

Core Principles

Respect & Inclusion

Treat every participant with respect, regardless of background, gender, age, race, ability, or experience level.

Collaboration

HackCulture thrives on teamwork and knowledge-sharing. Support and uplift one another.

Integrity

Be honest about your contributions. Plagiarism, cheating, or misrepresentation will not be tolerated.

Safety

Maintain an environment free of harassment, intimidation, or discriminatory behavior.

No Plagiarism or Re-using Past Work

Projects should be created during the hackathon. If you reuse or adapt existing work, you must disclose it during submission. Failure to disclose may result in disqualification.

No Discrimination

HackCulture is a safe space. Discrimination based on the following (or any other factor) is strictly prohibited:

No Harassment

Harassment in any form will not be tolerated. This includes:

  • Offensive comments, gestures, or imagery.
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or unwanted attention.
  • Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome advances.
  • Taking photos/videos without consent.
  • Creating or encouraging a sexualised environment.

Recording & Consent

Photography and videography are encouraged, but participants must have the right to opt out. Respect requests not to be recorded and delete content if someone withdraws consent. Never capture media in private or sensitive spaces.

Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of any projects you create at HackCulture. By submitting, you grant HackCulture permission to showcase your work solely for event-related purposes. Your ideas remain yours.

Always Report

If you notice a violation or feel unsafe, report it immediately. Organizers will support you, and may involve local authorities if needed.

Consequences of Violations

  • Verbal or written warnings.
  • Expulsion from HackCulture without refund.
  • Disqualification from prizes and recognition.
  • Ban from future HackCulture events.
  • Escalation to local law enforcement if required.
